Accessibility
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA. That target is what the European Accessibility Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Québec's SGQRI 008 standard all point at.
Concretely, on this site:
- the markup is semantic, with one H1 per page and headings in order;
- every interactive element is reachable by keyboard and shows a visible focus ring;
- a "skip to content" link comes first in the tab order;
- the text reflows to a 320px viewport with no horizontal scrolling, and survives 200% zoom;
- there is no animation, no motion, no autoplay, no time limit and nothing that flashes;
- colour is never the only way information is conveyed, and contrast was checked against the AA thresholds;
- each page declares its language so that screen readers pronounce it correctly;
- the site works with JavaScript switched off.
Known limitation: the three product illustrations are still placeholders. They will need real alternative text when the images are put in.
